Yoshi got his feet moving again, following Liya and Vlad, the little violet night lights hovering all around them.
"'Sat weird?" Liya asked, and added, "I guess that's when some people start havin' trouble. Y'know, 'cause your body starts changin' in ways you don't want."
"Not weird, no!" Vlad answered quickly. Yoshi made to interrupted but his small "I'm..." came out too softly, and Vlad went on, "Just neat that you learned about it from a kid's book. Most humans I've known are kinda resistant--"
"I'm--" Yoshi said, louder now, so that this time Vlad and Liya both looked round in response. Yoshi had stopped again, the night lights drifting around his face, his breath clouding in the air. When he spoke next, it was quietly, but surely.
"I'm a girl."
For a moment none of them moved; Yoshi began looking nervous, while Liya and Vlad merely stared.
"Ohhh," Liya said slowly, surprising Vlad out of his thoughts as well. She folded her arms. "Really?? How come you never said?"
Vlad put a hand over his chest. "Honey, are you just figuring this out now??"
