Hello! Here's the first of this post-chapter interlude! White Noise is now a ten-year-old webcomic (as of 8/24 if you count from the title page of chapter 1, or 8/31 if you count from page 1) so I put together this collage of pre-comic sketchbook bits for your enjoyment.

A little background: I graduated from high school in 2009, and my original goal was to major in animation and maybe go into storyboarding. I was drawing bad anime bullshit during my teens, as was the style at the time, but during high school I started to actually make a serious effort to learn to draw properly rather than just poorly copying what I was reading in manga and such (and also because at least at the time, most art schools straight up said on their applications that they weren't going to look at your portfolio if it was full of anime. Classy.) So what you're seeing from that time here is an extremely awkward transitional period.

I ended up going to the University of Central Florida because I couldn't afford anything like SCAD or Ringling, which is just as well because--after a pretty poor education at UCF if I'm being honest--I decided I didn't want to go into the animation industry for various reasons by the time I graduated. In the meantime, though, I was working nights while taking classes, and had a lot of downtime that I used to start this webcomic. Most of these characters and a good chunk of the story existed well before I started properly working on White Noise. Most of these characters have been with me since I was a pre-teen, actually.

It's been a very weird experience, looking back on this old stuff. I'm a different person in a different place now than when I started White Noise, but this comic has been a pretty stable part of my life the whole time. I'm glad to have it, and glad that there are some folks who enjoy it. <3

All that said, maybe we can do a sort of Q&A in the comments here? I realize that if you're not following me on social media or subscribed on Patreon (because I do a lot of shop talk both places), you might have some questions about stuff like, I dunno, who I am, or how I make the comic, or stuff like that! If you do, feel free to comment and I'll answer as best I can!
