Numair hesitated as Hawk rounded on him fully. "Th-That isn't--"
"How could I not be fuckin' angry?!" Hawk interrupted, getting louder and angrier as the lightning flashed closer and closer. "That's a HUGE LIE!"
"Hawk, I--" Numair tried to get out, but Hawk wasn't stopping.
"Do you have any clue how just yer existence has hung over my entire life?!"
"I--I did not--"
"LOOK AT ME!" Hawk shouted, because Numair was looking nervously up at the black sky and the jagged forks of lightning that raced along its underside.
He looked; the anger in Hawk's face had given way somewhat, and he now just looked upset, almost afraid.
"Did you think it was funny?!" he demanded, and Numair kept trying to interject, to deny, but Hawk went on. "Is that how you get your kicks?? Foolin' the stupid halfbreed into trustin' you? Into--fallin' for you--"
There was a crash of thunder so loud then that Numair couldn't help it--he clapped his hands over his ears. Hawk exploded.
"DON'T COVER YOUR EARS, ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME?!" he roared, and all the vibrating snapping jaws around him seemed to roar too. Numair tore his hands away in horror. "The least you could do is fuckin' listen--"
Another bolt of lightning shot seemingly very close, but Numair tried to ignore it even as it raised his hackles, pleading, "I--I'm sorry, I--"
A cry of pain from Hawk cut him off this time--the wound in Hawk's shoulder, which he'd been ignoring, was now bright and angry and wide, and something the same livid yellow as the striping on his taloned arm was erupting from it. He curled his talons around it, teeth clenched, as it sent a twinge down his still normal arm.
After a moment, he growled, "How long did you know where she was?"
