The door shut, leaving behind a brief spangling of dappled sunlight, and somewhere behind it the vivid surface of the sea.

As it faded, Numair stood dumbstruck, having half-fallen back against his desk in shock. The next second he was on the other side of the desk, frantically pushing papers aside, as Sraddi watched him languidly. He pulled open one drawer, and then the other, revealing them both to be crammed full of files in reddish folders. Some of these he yanked out, inspecting the tabs, before shoving them back in--though they didn't always fit in the first time, and soon some had fallen onto the floor around his feet in his haste.

Finally he pulled out what he was looking for, a file identical to the rest but for the neatly typed 'IR-06-05032005-02' on its translucent tab. He sank to the floor and opened it, bracing it on his knees.
