There was no sound except for the rhythm of Teige's hooves on the stone as he galloped through the thick fog. Ahead of him, the path took a sharp turn, and the corner had been roped off. On the other side of the ropes, the ground dropped off sharply a short distance into a canal.

Rather than turn, Teige simply took a leap and cleared the ropes, a spark of flame coming off his front hooves as he did. With a flourish of green fire he cycled through different shapes in midair, managing to get through three--the bull, the deer, and finally a huge black seal--before plunging into the water.
