Teige watched Hannah sweeping for a long moment, switching the tip of his tail back and forth. Finally, he said, "Suppose I'll go for a run, then. Thanks for the company."

"O-oh!" Hannah said, surprised, and followed him as he stepped out of the living room into the dark hallway to fetch a jacket. "This late? Are you sure??"

"I'll run fast," Teige assured her, putting the jacket on. Hannah stood in the doorway of the living room, as he opened the door to leave.

"Be careful," she murmured.

Outside the fog was so thick that Teige could hardly see past the end of the building, though it made the night less pitch-black and more a thick grey. He took off jogging up the sidewalk at first, but as he ran he changed in a flash of green fire into the form of a black horse, not missing a step as he did.
