A horse leapt into the road.
A horse.
It was a huge, black draft horse with white eyes like headlights. It had to snake around the front of the slowly-moving cable car, and she could have sworn she heard it mutter 'oh Jesus' tersely as it went. She stared as it gathered itself and hopped effortlessly over the blue car passing in the opposite lane, hooves neatly clearing the roof. And then, just in case she didn't think she was crazy enough, it opened its mouth and shouted after the winged demon, "Wait!"
